I need to clear some space on my shelves, so I need to part with some of my collection. Her bow contains seven tons of steel from the Twin Towers to honor those lost on 9/11. Gallery Models was credited with this release, but it is now known that this has always been a product of Trumpeter, under an agreement with MRC and Revell to sell it under their brands. Here is some of the info I found about this kit from around the web. The Model Rectifier Corporation (MRC) is the parent company that owns the Gallery Models brand. The page for this kit shows the box art and has the following description and list of features. To honor the victims of 9/11, the bow was formed using about 7 tons of steel salvaged from the World Trade Center. Even a length of real chain for the anchors! Gallery’s models are remarkable in that they need no extra expensive aftermarket details to finish a smashing model. It’s all there ready to go when you open the box- everything you could want. Position-able stern ramps opening into a superbly detailed Well deck to display the two amazing LCAC hovercraft. Multiple small Zodiac-type boats. Fully detailed aircraft hangar deck with position-able door. All the life rafts and other small deck details that make the model come alive. Kit includes two photo-etched frets of fine details like ladders, railings and vent grilles. LCAC Hovercraft (2), LCU Landing Craft, AAV-7 Amphibs (2). AH-1W Cobra gunships, MV-22 Osprey tilt-rotors (with extra parts for folded-blade display), CH-46E Sea Knight helicopters (with extra parts for folded-blade display), CH-53E Helicopters (with extra parts for folded-blade display), UH-1N Huey helicopters. There is a link to download the complete 24-page instruction set and full-color Painting Guide. There are also links to reviews, aftermarket parts and galleries to support your build. He shows all of the parts in nine photos, including the grey and clear plastic parts, the three PE frets and the two large decal sheets. He lists the highlights and abundant features of the kit and summarizes the review with: Like the LHDs before it, this LPD kit from Gallery Models is a really nice kit and if you’ve been intimidated by the complexity of the earlier LHD kits, this model will be an easier build and show you how well the model goes together so you can build the LHD to display alongside this beautiful model. He actually received a pre-production kit without instructions and with a rougher appearance than expected. There were a few problems with his copy, but he said: In the end, the hull is sound, and the kit’s is generally good- and it will look like USS New York LPD-21 when you’re done! After the brief history section, he breaks down the kit contents. You can easily page through over a dozen photos showing the plastic parts, clear aircraft sprues, three frets of photo etched metal parts, metal chain and two sheets of decals. He goes into detail explaining the construction steps and provides his opinions about the highs and lows of the kit. Given the unique history of the USS New York, with its usage of WTC steel, this will undoubtedly be a popular subject, and while the parts count is high, the actual assembly is well thought out. He goes through his build with photos and emphasizes the value of proper planning. His tips will give you a real leg-up on your successful build and you can see that he ends up with a breathtaking model in the end. About half of his time was spent on the aircraft, boats, vehicles and other gear. The review is in their forum and is broken into many sessions, each one covering a chunk of work. It is essentially a Build Log where he shows every step of the construction as he goes. He outlines his construction process and provides dozens of photos to document it. He gives out a lot of great advice throughout the sessions and rather than summarizing at the end, he noted at the start: ” This model will build into an excellent, full feature model with no additional after market parts necessary “. This kit is in a long, thin box about 29″ x 8″ x 4.5. As you can see from the pictures, the package is pristine and is still sealed with six tape strips, so it is. Factory sealed and absolutely gift-ready. This incredible kit contains over 700 plastic and photo-etched metal parts, including a large armada of landing craft, armored vehicles and aircraft. Those familiar with my listings can tell that I really enjoy these products and the modeling hobby. I like to provide more than just the bare facts about the items, trying to lead you into discovering more about the subjects and optimizing your builds (if that is your goal). I started out picking up models that I was interested in, with the eye toward building them when I had time. Always a bargain-hunter, I accumulated many more than I can build, so I found myself in a Collector status (sounds nicer than a hoarder). Now I enjoy making these products available to my fellow modelers; both Builders and Collectors. For Collectors, my goal is to save you a few bucks over the competition for the same item in factory sealed and collectible (or resellable) condition. This item is in the category “Toys & Hobbies\Models & Kits\Boats & Ships”. The seller is “teddybear200002″ and is located in this country: US. This item can be shipped to United States.
