A 20 gun privateer, the Rattlesnake was built at Plymouth, Massachusetts in 1780. She carried a crew of 185, and captured over a million dollars worth of British booty on her first cruise. Mamoli’s Rattlesnake kit features double plank-on-bulkhead construction using laser-cut beech, tanganyka and walnut. Stern and bow ornamentation and 20 cannon are gilded metal. Gun port frames are heavy cast metal to assure proper squaring and alignment of the ports. Other fittings are boxwood, walnut and cast metal. Plans and instructions are on 12 large sheets. Wooden display cradle is also included. Finished model: 28″ long, 19″ high in 1:64 scale. This kit has been opened and someone has assembled the display cradle. No other work was done and all parts and components seem to be there, including planking strips, fittings, decorative pieces and plans. Also included are two large double-sided sheets plans for the Model Shipways Rattelsnake, which is in the same 1:64 scale. The Model Shipways rigging plan is in two-color (black and red) to make the job easier.
